Welcome to the Institute for the Advancement of Self Psychology
(IASP) Website. IASP was established in 1994 to train professionals in
Psychoanalytic Theory and Technique with an emphasis on Contemporary
Self Psychology.
IASP offers a two year clinically oriented training program in
psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The program is based upon contemporary
psychoanalytic approaches to psychotherapy with an emphasis on
contemporary Self Psychology which privileges empathic listening and
understanding, the spirit of inquiry, and the delineation of the
patient's sense of self within various relational contexts.
